ABBOTSFORD August 11, 2016: The Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) in conjunction with industry partners is proud to launch the new Aerospace & Technology Cluster.
The Aerospace and Technology Cluster is a web based platform that will help local Abbotsford aerospace industry promote their capabilities to the global marketplace in a unified voice. It will offer advanced product and service innovation through its partnerships with the nation-leading aerospace companies operating at YXX and the future commercial partnerships based within the Cluster located at the airport.
"Aerospace is one of our key economic sectors in Abbotsford and this'cluster' business model approach helps strengthen our existing international strategies," said Mayor Henry Braun. "By leveraging pre-existing commercial relationships, as well as capturing new opportunities, the participating organizations will help to demonstrate and promote the strategic viability of our international airport and aerospace sectors to a wider international market."
The Abbotsford International Airport provides BC’s lower mainland with the connectivity it needs as it moves forward to establish itself as an aerospace hub.
"The airport’s business model is built to empower entrepreneurs and support our growing world-class aerospace communities," said Dave Holmberg, Chair of the Abbotsford Airport Authority. "The airport has been extremely successful using this unique approach and it will continue to succeed due to the solid business partnerships built over the years."
The participating organizations are dedicated to four areas of intervention; Service Support and Engineering, Flight Operations and Training, Technology and Research Development, and Consulting Services and Industry Associations.
